Save Gas by Driving Economically.

- Exceeding 40 mph forces your auto to overcome tremendous wind resistance.

- Never exceed legal speed limit. Primarily they are set for your traveling safety, however better gas efficiency also occurs. Traveling at 55 mph give you up to 21% better mileage when compared to former legal speed limits of 65 mph and 70 mph.

- Traveling at fast rates in low gears can consume up to 45% more fuel than is needed.

- Manual shift driven cars allow you to change to highest gear as soon as possible, thereby letting you save gas if you "nurse it along". However, if you cause the engine to "bog down", premature wearing of engine parts occurs.

- Keep windows closed when traveling at highway speeds. Open windows cause air drag, reducing your mileage by 10%.

- Drive steadily. Slowing down or speeding up wastes fuel. Also avoid tailgating - the driver in front of you is unpredictable. Not only is it unsafe, but if affects your economy, if he slows down unexpectedly.

- Think ahead when approaching hills. If you accelerate, do it before you reach the hill, not while you're on it.

Tips on How to save Gas

Watch for these tips. You might be one of those car owners who unknowingly fall into this kind of motor driving habits. Waste of fuel starts even at the time when you switch your ignition key in the morning: Here are some helpful tips on how to save gas:

1. Avoid prolonged warming up of engine, even on cold mornings - 30 to 45 seconds is plenty of time.

2. Be sure the automatic choke is disengaged after engine warm up... chokes often get stuck, resulting in bad gas/air mixture.

3. Don't start and stop engine needlessly. Idling your engine for one minute consumes the gas amount equivalent to when you start the engine.

4. Avoid "reving" the engine, especially just before you switch the engine off; this wastes fuel needlessly and washes oil down from the inside cylinder walls, owing to loss of oil pressure.

5. Eliminate jack-rabbit starts. Accelerate slowly when starting from dead stop. Don't push pedal down more than 1/4 of the total foot travel. This allows carburetor to function at peak efficiency.

So, the next time you warm up your engine.... you already know what to do...

We do make enough to save money; we just aren't willing to quit spoiling ourselves with our little projects or pleasures to have enough left to save. I don't care what you make—you can save money. It just has to become a big priority to you.

If a doctor told you that your child was dying and could only be saved with a $15,000 operation that your insurance would not cover and could only be performed nine months from today, could you save $15,000? Yes! Of course you could! You would sell things, you would stop any spending that wasn't required to survive, and you would take two extra jobs. For that short nine months, you would become a saving madman (or madwoman). You would give up virtually anything to accomplish that $15,000 goal. Saving would become a priority.

Putting Your money in the bank is a loser's game....

This may be a little hard to swallow for some of us but this is "hard truth." I heard it a number of times from other people but that's just it - for me, Putting All your hard earned money in the bank is a losing proposition.

Here are some facts why I believe so:

1. The interest rate offered by the bank is lower than the country's inflation rate. The prevailing current interest rate for savings account ranges between 2.5% and 5% per annum and if you'll look at the inflation rate of our country as of December last year, it is 9.5%. This means that the purchasing power of your money has depreciated by 4% last year. Your money is now 4% lesser in value in terms of purchasing power.

2. Government will impose 20% tax for your interest earnings from savings account. Just imagine a 20% deduction from your meager 2.5% interest earnings... I have nothing against taxes. Its good for the country in some way but, this one, in my opinion, is too much. It doesn't sound good...

3. If you're so conservative and contented of letting your money stay in the bank, you gave up your chance of availing the limitless income generating opportunities present everywhere. Believe me they are all around us. We just need to train our brain to see them. There are other ways to let your money grow and double your money in a shorter time compared to saving money in the bank.

As a clincher to my point of view, here's a tip on how to estimate when your money will double:

A few years back, there were certificate of deposits offered that will double your money if you keep it untouched for five years. It was a good product but none of the banks are offering them now.

If you want to do the same now, do you know what kind of returns should you be aiming? You might be surprised to know how easy it is to estimate.

The rule of 72.

This is a simple formula used to estimate the number of years it will take for your money to double. By dividing the number 72 with the interest rate earned, you can approximate the duration you need to wait. By just reversing the formula, we can determine that you need around 14.4 percent returns to double your money in five years.

Now, let us use the current bank rates (between .5 and 2.5 % return per annum). Based on the rule of 72, it would take between 28 to 144 years to double your money.

Do you think you can wait that long? Or should you be thinking of other ways to invest?

2. Invent something. Most inventions are merely new arrangements of things that have already been invented.

3. Alter or improve in any number of different ways something that already exists.

Those are only the overview on how to develop money-making ideas. They sound so simple but they are the framework in conceptualizing brilliant moneymaking ideas. The following are the guide questions that will help you in the process of acquiring the skill:

List the things you want to improve:

- Why should it be improved?
- Who will benefit from the improvement?
- What is wrong with it at the present time?
- Did someone else cause a problem with it?
- How do you propose to improve it?
- Do you have the facilities to do the work required?
- Do you have the know-how to do the work required to improve it?
- Exactly what part needs to be improved?
- Should it be smaller? Larger?
- Should the color be different?
- Would more activity help make it better?
- Could it be combined with something else to make it more practical?
- Would a different basic material work better?
- Is it too complicated, could it be simplified?
- Would a substitute be more meaningful?
- Is it priced too high?
- Would a change in personnel help the situation?
- Can the shape be changed to advantage?
- Can a new marketing plan make the difference?
- Is it safe?
- Can it be mass produced to bring the unit cost down?
- Should the appearance be changed... streamlined?
- Is there an adequate guarantee?
- What can make it appeal to a bigger audience?
- Would new packaging or trade name enhance it?
- Can it be made heavier, lighter, higher or lower?
- Can it be franchised?
- Is there a good maintenance program to back it up?
- Can financing be simplified?
- List ways to increase production:
- List ways to increase sales:
- List ways to reduce costs:
- List ways to increase efficiency:
- List ways to improve quality and increase profits!
- What can be done with it to satisfy more people?

Ooops. I know its a long list but you don't have to answer all the guide questions. Pick only a few of them and start grabbing your chance of having the possibility of becoming wealthy.

To sum it up, we need to learn to develop ideas from observing everyday things and details. Think of what could make something better. Dwell on things that have a large marketing audience, something that everyone needs and wants. Write your ideas down. Put a pencil and pad at your night stand. When you remember a good dream... don't just lay there, by morning you will forget it... Jot it down on the pad. You will be surprised what you can dream up! Maybe the million dollar idea will magically appear on your pad tomorrow morning!

PS: The thought of having money-making ideas excites me a lot. But learning how to train our brains to conceptualize money-making ideas is far more superior to it. For me it's similar to "Learning How to Fish" instead of "Having supply of Fishes." The latter is limited and time sensitive in nature while the former assures me of lifetime continuous supply. Saving Money as your New Year's Resolution

It’s 2009!!! ... and like in the past new years, people begin to think of ways on how to start the year right in order to be prosperous for the remaining days of the Year – It’s a thing called New Year’s Resolution. The sad part about it is, at the end of the year most of them remained as merely “good intentions”. However, that should not be a reason to stop planning our new year’s resolution. All we should do is to never lose our FOCUS on our plans for the duration of the year in order to make it a success.

In this time of global economic crisis, the more sensible new years resolution for me would be “Saving Money.” Below are some tips which you might find useful:

1. First thing first, Write it down
Having a mental picture of our new year’s resolution is fine but we have to concretize it by writing them down the paper and read it them to ourselves daily. If we want to achieve our goals, we should be reminded of them not only on the First Month of the Year but for the remaining days of the year

2. Pay Yourself First
Perhaps you'll notice that there's always nothing left in the end if you don't prioritize saving. You should always pay yourself first. It’s easier to immediately save a portion of your income and spend the rest freely, rather than controlling your spending all month just to have money left in the end for your savings.

3. Automate Your Saving
Make saving automatic. If you’re an employee, ask your HR department or your bank if they can automatically allot a portion of your salary to a special savings account. I have friends who do this and they attest that it helps a lot specially when you’re building an emergency fund.

4. Play it.
Sometimes, the reason why we failed to save is because, we have the mindset that saving is about making sacrifices like starving and depriving ourselves of convenience and pleasures. This kind of thinking creates a great psychological hindrance for us to continue saving money. Thus the remedy for that is to make saving fun and simple - just like in playing.... How? Just be creative about it. Perhaps you could try keeping a picky piggy bank. My cousin started doing 10-peso coins last summer and when I visited her a few days ago, her piggy bank is already half full with an estimated amount of P8,000.00 - an amount she was able to “effortlessly” save.

5. SAVE UP FOR YOUR TREASURES IN HEAVEN.
Have a plan on how you can help the poor in your own little way. Christmas is in the air! People are beginning to rejoice. There’s this distinct feeling of euphoria being experienced by everybody every time this season comes. Each of us wants to make it a true season of joy. And because of this, a sort of pressure within us builds up as Christmas gets nearer. For most of us, Christmas season is also coined invisibly with the word – “Christmas Shopping…”

In this time of tough economy, money becomes a major issue, as we approach December 25th, the pressure becomes a lot stronger resulting to lots of stress as to the various preparations we need to make like Foods, Gifts and Clothing. For many of us, these are the main ingredients in order to keep up with this supposed “Season of Joy and Giving!”

Here are my favorite tips of a stress-free Christmas shopping:

Tip #1: Prepare a budget and Stick to it.
If you just barged into a shopping mall without careful planning on what you will spend, you’re like a soldier marching to the battlefield without any weapon or map. Chances are you’ll be overspending and next New Year won’t be a happy one for you.. Remember that there are other “seasons” to come next year that needs your financial resources too. You’ll be better off if you plan and make a budget and stick to your plans. Too much Christmas emotion may cause you financial troubles few months after..

Tip #2 Avoid using credit cards.
Once you have your budget finalized, stay away from credit cards! You will still spend 12-18% more if you use plastic, and you’ll be paying it off come 2011! Doesn’t paying with cash sound more freeing than having a credit card balance looming over your head? You bet.

Tip #3 Listen.
Listen to the hints your loved ones drop about what they need or want this year. Maybe your 'Tita Meoww" mentioned that she would love someone to help her in the garden, or "Tito Kambz" keeps losing guitar picks. A thoughtful gift like this will mean a lot.

Tip #4 Haggle.. Haggling is an art, and my wife is a great artist, I would say. I'm always amazed how she gets away with more than half of the original price. At the very least, she tells me, ask for a half price off so when you meet halfway, it's always at least 25% savings. Be prepared to walk away when it's not the price you want. Chances are, they'll go after you. This is especially true if you shop in “tiangge” or night markets. But there’s no harm in trying it with department stores and malls.

Tip #5 Don’t wait until the last minute.
If you make a last minute shopping, choices for gifts, especially with toys, become very limited and usually what are left on shelves are the expensive ones. Those gifts that have low prices are usually sold out by that time. Procrastination is not the most appealing gift out there. Don’t find yourself stressed out on Christmas Eve just because you didn’t invest a little bit of time to plan.

Tip# 6 This early, Plan for next year’s Christmas.
Throughout the next year, look for outrageous sales on things your loved ones will need. If you time the sales just right and clip some coupons, you could land a major discount on something you were going to buy in a few months for a birthday or wedding gift. Remember to have a list and budget for this, too.

Tip #7 Don’t Forget the reason why we celebrate.
If this season becomes all about shopping and gifts, you’ve missed the whole point. People—not things—matter. The miraculous birth of a baby who changed the world is what matters.

The scrupulous recruiters of Pyramiding craftily hide it under the guise of Multi-Level Marketing (MLM). There is a very thin-line of distinction between Pyramiding and MLM. However, the latter is a legitimate business model while the former is otherwise..

In order not to fall into this kind of trap, I would like you to take a look at these three elements mentioned below:

1. You need to pay an upfront payment and be a member in order to join the program.
2. There’s no value for money in your investment. You do not get a product equivalent to your investment,. Sometimes, you get a product but if you compare similar goods in the market, the price is far too high. In some cases, there are no goods involved at all.
3. You are encouraged to recruit people to join the system in order for you to recover your upfront payment. Because of this, your focus now shifts to recruiting prospective members instead of marketing the goods or services offered by the company. It also helps to ask yourself this question before making the decision to invest in this kind of business model:

"Does the scheme involve putting up of investment (entry fee and purchase of goods, or purchase of goods alone) for the opportunity to receive earnings derived primarily from recruiting, rather from sales? "

I guess this is the mother of all "HOW to's" to many people struggling financially. When it comes to accumulating money, there are only 2 options that we can do:

Option #1: we can work for it ourselves by exchanging time and effort,
Option #2: we can use our existing money to work hard for us and replicate itself

For most of us, we are very much familiar with option #1. But we all know, that this is not enough to free us from financial problems. However if we take a closer look on Option #2, it really sounds good! it's the other way around. "It's Money works for us!" This is a time tested principle for the truly rich people. But then, when reality sets in, this applies only to people who has money to keep working for them. The next question now would be:

"WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY?"

The simple answer would be to save money no matter how little we earn. We must prioritize saving. In saving money, SELF DISCIPLINE plays a very important role. The good thing about it is Discipline is FREE to acquire. It's not something that you can buy in the stores. It's actually priceless. All of us can have it if we practice it more often. 1. Stretching Useful life of an old battery
After you take a dying battery out of a camera, try reusing it in a low-energy appliance -- an alarm or a wall clock, for example. (But never mix old batteries with new ones.) Better yet, invest in rechargeable batteries.

2.Making the most of your mayonnaise
When the mayonnaise jar is almost empty and you just can't get that last little bit, sprinkle a few drops of vinegar inside, add flavorful herbs and shake well. You'll have enough salad dressing for one salad.

3. The wonder of Vinegar
Try this and it works like magic.

* Use a bowl of vinegar to deodorize freshly painted rooms.
* To remove soap or hard-water buildup on chrome fixtures, put tissues over stained areas, then pour full-strength vinegar over them. Let sit for about five minutes before removing and rinsing.
* To improve the crust of homemade bread, brush the top of the loaf with vinegar just before baking.
* If your hands smell from handling fish or an onion, wash them in apple cider vinegar. Odor gone!
* For relief from insect bites, soak a cloth in vinegar and place it over the affected area.
* Rinse freshly washed hair with a solution of 1 tablespoon vinegar to 1 cup water to get rid of soap buildup and give shine.

4.Read magazines at the library or online. Too many magazines can cost a fortune. And how many times have you bought a magazine based on the cover and been disappointed by the lack of substance. At the library you can read magazines for free. And many magazines now offer their content for free online.

5. Use compact flourescent light (CFLs) bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs. CFL bulbs use 75% less energy and last 10 times longer.

6.Take your lunch to work one more day a week than you do now. Eating out at lunch is fun, so I wouldn’t eliminate it completely. But taking lunch just one more day a week will keep money in your pocket.

7 Unplug appliances and electronics. Some of these items tend to keep using a little electric even when turned off.

8. Use timers to turn lights on and off. For when you're not around, it's better than leaving a light on constantly, and also works to fool burglars.

9. Use small TV set on prolonged TV viewing.

10. Empty toothpaste tubes are not so empty at all
When toothpaste tube is almost empty, cut the tube in half using scissor and you'll find that there's around 20% more left inside for you to use.

11. Make vegetable gardening your new hobby. It will give you lots of benefits such as fresh vegetable harvest for free. Also rooftop gardening will help your house achieve cooler temperature during sunny days resulting to lower electric bills.

12. Put your vegetable and fruits in a plastic aluminum coated packs. In this way, you will be able to maintain their freshness for a longer period of time. The next time you finish your potato chips don't just throw away the pack. Recycle it and mother earth will love you for this.
